The Seven Planetary Cycles in Kabbalah

The Seven Planetary Cycles in Kabbalah

According to the famous Kabbalist D. M. Levery, the theory of the seven planets forms the foundation of practical Kabbalah. According to Kabbalah, this knowledge determines with absolute precision the direction of natural forces, not only for individuals but also for the universe as a whole. All life is governed by cycles based on the number seven. The human body renews itself every 7 years. There are seven primary colors. Pythagoras regarded it as the sacred number. Examples connected to the number 7 abound in the human world - the 7 Wonders of the World, the 7 philosophical principles, the 7 days of the week, the 7 internal organs of the body, the 7 distinct parts of the body, and so on.
Every human being has a vibration, and their life follows a specific rhythm. Certain elements of this rhythm are ruled by forces known in Kabbalah as planets - seven in number, corresponding to the seven days of Creation. Whether we are aware of it or not, our lives are strongly influenced by these forces to a certain degree. There are 365 days in a year, which, when divided by 7, define 7 periods of 52 days each. Our personal year begins and ends on our birthday. Therefore, each 52-day period, counted from our birthday, is ruled sequentially by the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn - the creative planets associated with the cosmic power of the Archangels.

According to Kabbalah, those who know how to work with these seven forces can attract far more light and success into their lives. Everything happens in its own time and place; while we cannot change or stop time, we can prepare the conditions to improve our destiny.

For example, if someone is born on March 21, which effectively serves as the first day of their personal year, the periods are arranged as follows:

Sun: March 21 to May 11
Moon: May 12 to July 2
Mars: July 3 to August 23
Mercury: August 24 to October 14
Jupiter: October 15 to December 5
Venus: December 6 to January 26
Saturn: January 27 to March 20

Each of these periods carries its own vibration, shaping our opportunities and actions in distinct ways. The Sun, Jupiter, and Venus are the benefice (fortunate) planets; Mars and Saturn are the malefic (challenging) ones; while Mercury and the Moon are neutral. According to Kabbalah, periods ruled by benefice planets heighten our personal magnetism, energy, and vitality, causing events to unfold in a particularly favorable manner. Conversely, times of the year when we feel down or weighed down often coincide with the periods of malefic planets.

Understanding these periods according to Kabbalah can minimize random choices, grant us greater calm and poise during challenging phases, and provide extra energy for projects during fortunate ones.

The Sun Period covers the first 52 days - a time of expansion and power. The Solar period is a wonderful time to seek the support of people in high positions, government officials, or decision-makers who hold the key to resolving our issues, as well as to develop new business plans. It is an ideal phase for conceptualizing ideas, tapping into our imagination and creativity, and experiencing a rebirth - a fresh start for everything. During this time, we feel vibrant and inspired, optimism is high, and our intellectual faculties are at their peak. It is remarkably easy during this period to achieve health improvements or reach an ideal weight through diets and exercise. This phase is also favorable for anything that needs to be settled through courts or state institutions. Numerous opportunities come our way that we can capitalize on; securing loans is easier than usual, money can be invested wisely, favors can be requested, and our overall image and reputation can be enhanced. If we can afford to wait, this is a great period for resolving longstanding problems and removing old obstacles. Good luck is on our side, even if we decide to adopt a pet.

These 52 days offer the best opportunity to give practical shape to our ideas, as well as to introduce new concepts and methods into our lives. A new job started during these days generally develops well; furthermore, our competitiveness and leadership ambitions are at their highest realization potential.

The second period belongs to the Moon. The Moon governs the feminine principle, women, the public, and change. All processes involving relocation, transition, clearing out, and short journeys are influenced and unfold in a unique way. Disharmony and relationship conflicts severely agitate our nervous system during these phases, making diplomacy our primary necessity. It is best to adapt to situations, show greater consideration for others, and set aside leadership dominance. Managing our emotions, avoiding arguments, listening, and observing are key. Taking decisions on major matters is difficult during these periods; it is far better to exercise discipline and caution while waiting for the right moment.

During this period, the Moon's effect on our psyche and health becomes particularly pronounced. Positive earthly vibrations are strongest during the waxing Moon phase (from New Moon to Full Moon), while negative ones are felt more during the waning phase. Adding new elements to our lives is especially favorable during the waxing phase, whereas eliminating things works best during the waning phase. This is not a good period to start a new job; if initiating a project, it is wise to complete it by the end of this period. Changes made now tend to be short-lived. The waxing Moon phase is considered favorable for marriage proposals.

The next 52 days are the Mars Period - often quite demanding, yet filled with exciting events for many. This period amplifies willpower, personal magnetism, and physical energy. In some situations, this brings success; in others, it leads to conflicts and obstacles. Engineers, builders, surgeons, dentists, and athletes can achieve particularly strong results during their Mars period. We receive a surge of cosmic energy during this time, making it easier to improve our physical body or habits through exercise routines or athletic programs. We can also remove obstacles that have blocked our path for a long time much more easily. We possess the drive to set rules and evaluate situations critically, as our judgment is typically accurate. For women, it is a favorable period to ask something of their partners. Mars governs weapons, accidents, fire, and sexuality, so caution is advised regarding all of these areas. It is not an ideal time to initiate legal lawsuits. Health issues related to blood, blood sugar, muscles, bones, and immunity may surface.

Martian days are not suitable for making major decisions, as they can turn out to be hasty, and problems may arise from signed contracts. The most important thing is to direct this heightened energy toward overcoming obstacles and stripping away useless aspects of life to make room for the new. Mars can make us short-tempered, argumentative, restless, and harsh. Because its influence is destabilizing, the period carries a higher risk of involvement in illicit business dealings or romantic triangles.

The subsequent 52 days belong to Mercury - the best period for writing, communications, and signing long-term contracts. This phase sharpens mental activity. Travel, buying and selling businesses, everything related to education, teaching, publishing, and media release are highly favored. For many, this period is marked by dynamic changes. Intuitive judgment is at its maximum because the mental and spiritual bodies are deeply stimulated. It is the premier time for developing concepts, implementing them, and gathering information. The best approach is to go with the flow of events without losing sight of personal interests. This is the ideal window for marketing work and stepping into the public eye. Sudden opportunities can arise from contacts with people at a distance. Publishers, editors, intellectuals, and information analysts are especially well-influenced during this time.

Jupiter rules the following 52 days, bringing financial matters and health into sharp focus. Jupiter governs business, commerce, investments, banking operations, interactions with financial officials, situations where we ask for favors, charitable acts, and aiding others.
Jupiter is the planet of material and spiritual abundance, making it easier to acquire both during this phase. It is a good time to take calculated risks and try new endeavors, including participating in stock markets or lotteries. It is the best period for settling legal disputes, hiring attorneys, or connecting with influential, wealthy individuals. Gaining popularity, taking calculated risks, and trying one's luck come naturally. Negotiating loans and meeting creditors are highly favored. Clear focus and persistence are essential to capitalize on these potential opportunities. Cosmic forces strongly support our actions, including in the realms of love and marriage.

The next 52 days belong to Venus. Venus rules art, artists, beauty, pleasures, luxury, and extravagance. This period is most favorable for professions associated with theater, dance, and music. It is a time when we are most inclined to spend on personal pleasures and luxury, or explore new ways to enjoy ourselves. It is a phase for rest, entertainment, play, and hobbies tied to aesthetics and art. Being attuned to personal needs, practicing self-care, and surrounding oneself with beauty and harmony are encouraged. It is a wonderful time to beautify one's surroundings or engage in applied arts. It stands as the best period to begin a relationship, enhance existing partnerships, cultivate friendships, or undergo cosmetic procedures. It is also the premier time for marriage or reconciling broken bonds.

The final 52 days fall under the governance of Saturn - well known for its somber and challenging nature. Most people associate the period immediately preceding their birthday with difficult memories, often referring to it as the "Saturnian hole." Caution, prudence, and emotional restraint are essential during this time, as is keeping the mind balanced and serene. Potential issues may arise regarding debts and repayments, rent, real estate, construction, inheritances, and wills.
It is vital to analyze situations and actions as thoroughly as possible. The general atmosphere during these days is one of limitation and a lack of immediate opportunities. Taking time to reflect objectively and dispassionately on oneself, loved ones, and friends is recommended. This is the moment to see things as they truly are and accept them. Saturn, known as the Lord of Karma, can heighten anxiety and disharmony across mind, body, and soul, bringing feelings of isolation or frustration. It can point out, in uncomfortable ways, what is no longer working in life and where transformation is required.

The Saturn Period is the worst time to launch significant new endeavors, as circumstances will be maximally unfavorable. Delays, obstacles, setbacks, and difficult attitudes from others can hamper progress, making it the worst window for starting legal proceedings. People are sometimes pushed into making unwise choices or entering disadvantageous agreements. It is the most challenging period for physical health, with heightened vulnerability to illness. Therefore, it is wise to adopt practices that strengthen physical and mental well-being, meditate, and analyze what serves us versus which habits need to be discarded. On a deeper level, the period is favorable for gaining insight into the unseen forces governing the world. It can also be suitable for real estate transactions or beginning the study of spiritual practices. Withdrawing and creating distance from the world helps recharge the system, restore balance, and find peace of mind.

Based on experience with classical astrology, these 7 planetary periods should not be viewed as absolute in every moment of existence. The nature of planetary influences in one's natal chart for the specific year plays a decisive role. If a person is undergoing heavy planetary transits during a given year, their Sun or Jupiter periods may not be particularly thrilling or prosperous. How the 7 planets are positioned in the individual natal birth chart is equally important. If Jupiter and Venus are in detriment, afflicted, or located in challenging houses, those 52 days may not feel as favorable. Conversely, a dignified Saturn by sign and house can make the 52-day Saturn period demanding yet highly productive in Saturn-ruled areas of life. Furthermore, launching a major project during a Retrograde Mercury or entering a relationship during a Retrograde Venus is rarely promising, even if done within a theoretically favorable planetary period.
Nevertheless, the theory of the seven creative planets provides a solid framework for organizing actions throughout the current year, allowing energy to be directed with greater consciousness and efficiency.
