Saturn Transiting Through the Astrological Houses

Saturn Transiting Through the Astrological Houses

Saturn is one of the planets with the strongest influence on our lives on Earth. Because of this, it is particularly useful to know which house of our natal chart this planet is passing through and, for a period of several years, consciously focus on resolving the issues defined by that house. Saturn's cycle is approximately 30 years, during which it passes through the 12 sectors of the horoscope. Depending on the individual chart, it remains an average of 2.5 years in a specific sector (in individual cases, when intercepted signs are present in the chart, the passage through a given house can be greatly extended, as if to reinforce the lesson we are working through in this sector). Saturn's presence in a given house indicates the area of our life that currently carries the greatest tension for us and needs to be restructured. In the next 2-3 years we will have the opportunity either to consciously make changes and development there, or, if we do not realize what is happening, to feel like victims of fate who endure heavy losses and disappointments.

Saturn always brings opportunities that do not come easily, as well as takes away things we no longer need, no matter how much we hate to admit it. Determining the position of transiting Saturn in the houses and the period of time in which the planet will be in the house is possible through any astrological software and with basic knowledge of chart theory. It should be taken into account that when the planet in its movement reaches 6 degrees before the exact cusp of the house, we usually already feel some impulse to do something in that specific area. Usually, during the first year of the stay, the dissatisfaction and the urge to reform are felt more clearly. We must note that Saturn does not always bring problems – if we are stable in the corresponding area, it can bring opportunities to improve that area of our life, to enrich it, to take it to a higher level. In many cases, when Saturn leaves one house and activates the next, events occur that bring results, or a sense of relief and satisfaction is felt if we have managed to clear the clutter in that sphere of our life.

Saturn in the First House – Saturn's passage through the first house or the Ascendant of the chart is an extremely important period, as this is a new beginning, a new cycle of growth, and above all, a new life structure, since the old way of life, thinking, and doing things were destroyed during the planet's transit through the 12th house of the chart. Upon entering the first house, we seem to return back to the world after having experienced a crisis; we feel the desire to recreate our life, we begin to realize many things about our mistakes, and we want to actively take action and build the new. Saturn's passage through the 12th and 1st houses can last about 5 years and can be a true rebirth, but we must understand what is happening, not get bogged down too much in pessimism and attachment to the old, and want more to be the creators of our destiny.

For many of us, Saturn's passage over the Ascendant will bring a change in image and physical appearance. Some people lose a lot of weight without visible effort; others begin to acquire a new charisma, sometimes becoming unrecognizable. In the previous sector, the 12th house, we often feel shapeless; usually we lack the effort to maintain ourselves physically, or various other factors prevent it. But the transit through the first house can truly be a time to mobilize and improve our lifestyle and physical condition. It can also be a time of illness if we are older and have forgotten to take care of our body and mind in recent years.

Another essential feature of the transit is also realizing that our old goals and ambitions are no longer relevant, and developing new interests and goals for our future. Sometimes this happens in what seems like a predetermined way, and certain events or coincidences direct us toward a new area of development, even if this does not match our desires. It is advisable in the first 7-8 months after exiting the Ascendant not to jump into breakneck projects that would change our entire existence, but rather to observe where the course of events is leading us. Many people begin studying or working on an ambition, and in the following years this permanently changes their career. In many cases, people have no idea that these new pursuits will permanently alter their lives. This period of our life is exceptionally good for anything that develops our potential and makes us more conscious, but it is not the best period for quick material success. First we must understand who we are, strengthen our inner world, and then lay the foundation for our future achievements in the outer world.

Saturn in the Second House – this is the house of what is valuable to us, of our resources, not only material ones. When Saturn enters there, for many people there may be periods of lack of money or financial losses and insecurity. Expense control and effort are necessary to maintain our material standard. But the struggle for financial security should not prevent us from restructuring our spiritual or moral values as well. In this period, we stop obsessing over ourselves and continuously thinking about our problems. We begin to be productive; we want to have results in the material world, since we already know better who we are and what we want. For many people who have passed through the 12th and 1st houses in a more conscious way, this period means a serious improvement in career position, building sources that will bring income in the coming years. I emphasize – the transit through the 2nd house is still not associated with very large incomes. Rather, this is the time when we will acquire practical skills and later, through them, reach material success. Many people start businesses and succeed, but only when things are thought through over time and quick wins are not chased. Saturn is slow but steady, and it is wise to be patient with projects during this period. With the right approach, financial improvements are already felt upon exiting the second house.

Saturn in the Third House – the house of our mental attitudes, habits, the way we speak, and the way we listen. Saturn's transit through this house is usually not felt as heavy compared to the 2nd house, and it is very often used for studying or traveling. For some people, this period can be passed with a lot of mental anxiety and worry, in most cases unfounded. It is better to deal with what is happening rather than tormenting the mind with what might catch us by surprise. This is a very good period for those who are studying or whose professions are related to learning, writing, or teaching.

Saturn's transit through the Fourth House is the time when we create our security and want to know where we belong, as we build a stable foundation and order in our home and life. For many people, this is the time when they build houses, renovate them, or change their residence. Sometimes changes occur in the family and we are forced to spend a lot of time among family, dealing with the problems of loved ones at the expense of our professional ambitions. This period is difficult if we have a mortgaged home and do not know exactly how we will cover the installments.
If we have long denied the existence of problems in our family relationships, the crisis during this transit can be destructive. Sometimes there are health problems with parents that permanently alter our lifestyle.
The 7-year period typical of the Saturn cycle ends in the 4th house.
At the end of the transit, preparation begins for the next one, where the movement is now upward and when we get the opportunity to realize our long-term ambitions.
Since the 4th house is also the foundation of our soul, for many of us this period will be associated with searching for meaning, using various ways to resolve our internal problems so that we can be truly free to develop during the next cycle.

Saturn's transit through the Fifth House has several specifics. It is possible in these years to feel more exhausted and not particularly vital, to feel not particularly loved or appreciated, not to experience joy, or even to be unable to have fun as we are used to. Saturn contracts and limits the flow of vital energy, and in the house of the Sun this is very noticeable.
This is a wonderful period to learn to love ourselves more and to be more independent from the love of others, no matter how impossible that might seem to most of us. It is time to review our evaluations of giving and receiving love. The mistakes we make in this period can involve distancing and alienating ourselves from others because we are misunderstood, or driving others crazy with our demands and thus causing them to withdraw. This can be the time when we become parents and assume heavy responsibility. Or our children enter puberty and force us to fundamentally reevaluate all our beliefs about them. Many people form relationships during this period, but more because they are lonely or seeking security rather than being in love. In some cases, people go through long and very difficult relationships that completely transform their lives.
If we discipline ourselves and direct our energy toward creativity, this can be an extremely productive period. Those who possess the foundation for it can write a book, create a play, a production, or music, simply because they open a channel through which the creative energy flows. Not all of us can create something extraordinary, but with organized habits and a lot of discipline during this period, we can develop many creative projects and skills. It should be noted, however, that some artistic people go through this period with difficulty for one reason or another.
If we are at a more mature age and dissatisfied or bored with our career, the 5th house can bring the launch of an initiative that leads us into a new profession or business, thus expressing the creativity of this house.

Saturn in the Sixth House – This period is very important for our work and health. It is mandatory to review everything related to our health, establish healthier eating and exercise habits, free ourselves from negative thinking, and preserve our energy without wasting it on unnecessary activities. Sometimes this period continuously brings chronic health issues, as if the body wants to clear accumulated toxins or draw our attention. In most cases, those who organize this sphere of life in a better way come out healthier and in better shape from this period.
At work, it is necessary to become more disciplined and organized. If the job is new to us, this is the period of our training and initial proof of worth. It is too early to feel like leaders; that will come later. But if we already have experience, this can be a period where we are promoted, but also loaded with heaps of responsibilities. Saturn through the 6th house is always associated with exhausting workloads and obligations. If our position is unstable, we can sometimes lose our job and go through 2-3 years of professional instability.

Saturn in the Seventh House is the period when Saturn begins to rise above the horizon and the focus shifts to others and the outer world. Usually in the 7th house we deal with marriage and personal relationships. If we are single, we often enter into a serious commitment. Those who are in relationships thoroughly review their needs, limitations, and duties. This can be a time of serious problems for some couples, and a strengthening of relationships for others. It is a time to look at ourselves and our partner in a new way, perhaps more soberly and unemotionally, but also more realistically. Sometimes our life partner has problems and we are occupied with them. For some people the 7th house is a difficult period, for others rather stabilizing - depending on other factors in the chart. The main goal is to review relationships and clarify how to move forward. If we have business partnerships or legal processes, the transit can prove very difficult. If offered business partnerships during this period, other factors in the chart must be carefully examined. If we have worked hard in the years prior and built a foundation in our career, people begin to notice us in the 7th house and we start to gain popularity.

Saturn in the Eighth House is one of the difficult sectors for Saturn. One topic is money and material property, especially that connected to other people - inheritances, loans, business partners' money. Saturn through the 8th house can bring us many troubles if we are unprepared or take foolish risks. But very often in this sector, people dare to take a loan and invest in a home or business, thereby creating a more stable foundation for their lives. This also depends on other factors in our lives and how wisely we use our options. The 8th house does not deny financial success - it is a material house above the horizon, but we must have built a good foundation and have a clear vision. Sometimes it is possible here for sources of income to be taken away by other people if we are careless or unfair; when the planet enters the 9th house, we may find ourselves involved in serious legal disputes.
If we have neglected our health and failed to establish a healthier lifestyle during the transit through the 6th house, the chronic complaints and ailments from previous years can turn into acute problems here that are resolved differently. After all, this is the house of surgeries.

The 8th house is the house of the deepest emotions and deep transformation. Sometimes people experience profound pain for various reasons during this period, and these experiences transform their lives. Sometimes emotions can prove too overwhelming, leading to depression, psychosis, or fears. In other cases, in this sector we confront questions about death or our sexual orientation, or change the way we channel our sexual energy. Many of us begin serious practices with yoga, astrology, or meditation - life no longer looks the old way, and it becomes necessary to reassess our beliefs. In the 8th house, we can literally experience a turn toward the spiritual as a result of deep suffering and connect with deeper dimensions of existence.

Saturn in the Ninth House – even the movement of the planet toward the cusp of the 9th house brings a sense of relief and movement for many people. A period of about 7 years begins that brings realization and success if we have laid the foundation for it. The true peak is reached when Saturn activates the 10th house. In the 9th house, our views on life and our direction stabilize, new goals are defined, and we concentrate on improving our skills. It is possible to study in one form or another, and very often university degrees or doctorates are completed. If you still haven't figured out who you are and what you want, things turn bad - the period will pass, and you will have to wait quite a few years until you redefine yourself again.

In the 9th house, it is good to be open to new knowledge, to the world, and to information that reaches us through various channels. During this period, it is good to travel to get to know the world, very often undertaking trips related to the spiritual interests we developed in the 8th house.

The 9th house is the house of higher knowledge, metaphysics, religion, and philosophy, so the transit can elevate our consciousness and our understanding of how things function at a higher level. Here we can define ideals that will lead us onto new paths and change our lives in accordance with our new beliefs.

Saturn in the Tenth House
. Crossing the Medium Coeli - the highest point of the chart - either elevates a person significantly in their chosen field or exposes severe anxieties and losses if the foundation is not stable. This can be a period of great success and stabilization, where you see success for the next few years, or a period of disappointment, depression, and a sense of pointlessness. If the chosen career does not align with the aspirations of our soul and our true goals, difficulties can be experienced in the 10th house. If the company where we work goes bankrupt or restructures, this is a clear sign that fate is sending us in other directions. If your direction is correct, during these years you get the strongest opportunity to shine or influence others, receiving the reward for your efforts.

Saturn in the Eleventh House – a time when we determine what we want to achieve in connection with other people around us. It is possible to have a child, join groups with various interests, make friends, or review our old friendships. In this house, it is good to think about our personal desires rather than career, directing focus toward people and how we connect with them. It is also good to see which friendships nourish us and which drain our energy. It is worth remembering that the 11th house represents our hopes and desires, and to try to understand more about that. The 11th house is also the income from our clients - people with their own business may notice an increase as a result of the increased popularity in the 10th house.
In our conscious life, we usually have 2 passes through the 11th house, and for those who have made good use of time, the second pass can be a very happy and successful period.

Saturn in the Twelfth House – A famous astrologer likened entering the 12th house to lowering the curtain: an intermission, silence, and preparation for the new act. From my observations, for most people this is the most difficult sector because, on the surface, nothing seems to happen here. A person meets directly with the consequences of their desires and activities over the past 28 years. Many spheres of life remain stable, while in others confrontations and destruction begin without our ability to control or influence them. It is common, especially in the first year, to feel discomfort, dissatisfaction, and disorientation. Emotions are stiff, suppressed, and we easily slip into negativity and despair. Everyone wants change in the 12th house, but this is the winter of our life - the seeds are under the snow waiting for their time.
The ambitions, values, and beliefs that were the foundation of our life fall apart, and we hang in suspense without knowing where our new place is.
Many people reject many of their old beliefs and accept new convictions and values. The 12th, like the 8th, is the other spiritual sector of the chart, and the period is good for gaining a deeper insight into these subjects. Here we can develop our intuition very strongly, have transcendent experiences, gain higher knowledge of the laws governing our lives, and find our hidden resources. But if we are unconscious, we can fall into serious psychological issues and distance ourselves from reality for a long time. This is the house of isolation, and many of us will experience solitude and detachment from others during this period. Sometimes we isolate ourselves to go inward and discover our spiritual strength. Sometimes others are not interested in us, and although this may seem harsh, it later turns out to have been important, allowing us to develop much of our potential.
The 12th house is not a worldly house - it is definitely good to take care of our diet and physical exercises. During this period energy is low; it is unwise to squander it, we must save and focus it. Illnesses in the 12th house are often psychosomatic and better treated with alternative methods.
The period is good for learning and accumulating skills that we will use later. It is not good for radically changing our business and work; things started in the 12th house usually fail or go away when the planet enters the 1st house. Likewise, those spheres where we record decline and stagnation will be radically reformed or eliminated in the next 2-3 years.
It is difficult to go through the disorientation and inability to act in the 12th house, but it serves as preparation for our new structure, which we will begin to glimpse during the transit over the Ascendant. It is good to remember that no matter how guilty and inadequate we felt here, when Saturn activates the 1st house those feelings will disappear, and we will feel lightness and a desire for new undertakings.
