Choosing a Wedding Date - Elective Astrology

Choosing a Wedding Date - The Most Important Day

Selecting the date and time for registering a marriage is perhaps the most popular branch of elective astrology. At the same time, it is quite a complex technique governed by specific rules and considerations that must be understood and observed. In my view, the core requirements for such a chart should be clear not only to those making the selection, but also to clients seeking their date or dates, so they know what to expect and receive from their consultants.

A well-chosen date can correct many of the issues inherent in either natal chart or in their synastry, soften many of the conflicts the couple must navigate, and establish favorable conditions for their life together. However, it is not a panacea; it cannot unconditionally remove severe indications in the birth charts or overly acute conflicts caused by a large number of disharmonious aspects between the two charts.

The astrologer's task is complex because the chart must be equally favorable for both partners. First and foremost, it is best if there are no difficult influences from Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto in the birth charts at the moment of marriage. I will note that in real life, many people find themselves forced for various reasons to marry precisely during difficult Saturn transits - after all, this planet is the primary ruler of our earthly duties and often obliges us to take action.

A marriage should strictly not be signed during the so-called retrograde motion of Mercury and Venus. According to statistics from American astrologers, the divorce rate for these marriages is very high, even if the couple has lived together for several years prior and their relationship is well established.

It must also be taken into account that in Bulgaria, a marriage is legally binding when performed at the municipality, not in church, as it carries legal weight. This can be a relief, since in many cases a suitable date cannot be found on a Saturday or Sunday; the legal signing can then take place on a weekday, while the church wedding and reception are held on a day convenient for the partners. Many clients ask whether the church vow isn't the more important moment after all, as they see a deeper meaning in it. If they feel that way, the choice is theirs, but in my opinion, astrology is a science with well-tested rules, and it is better to follow them.

Marriage is the theme of the 7th house in the astrological chart. The astrological chart for the day and time of signing must reflect the couple's situation. According to classical elective astrology, the ruling planet of the Ascendant represents the groom, while the ruler of the Descendant represents the bride. These planets should be in a favorable sign for them - dignified - and in a good aspect with each other, as well as with the Moon if possible. Venus and Mars - the general significators of love and marriage - should not be placed in unfavorable signs and should ideally form a harmonious aspect with each other.

It is crucial to have a strong and well-placed Moon in the chart, as it rules women and children. The Moon should never be in a void-of-course position - a void-of-course Moon halts all development. It is best if it forms no disharmonious aspects with malefic planets, and it is especially important that its final aspect before leaving the sign be positive. A waxing Moon is extremely favorable.

The Sun and the Moon are the natural significators of the masculine and feminine principles, so it is desirable for them to be in a good aspect with each other. Furthermore, the planets located in the 7th house - the house of marriage - and the 5th house - the house of children - are very important. Malefic planets there are not associated with happy omens; it is ideal if dignified benefics can be placed in those houses. The Moon should have good connections with the ruler of the 7th house or with the planets residing there.

Due to all these requirements, calculating a truly good and correct chart for registering a marriage is no easy task - sometimes a suitable one cannot be found within a span of 30 or 45 days. Even more so if the client insists on a Saturday or Sunday. Nevertheless, people cannot always wait for the perfect day, nor are they always convinced that they need to do so.

A good principle that can be applied in such cases is the principle of planetary periods rooted in ancient Kabbalah - a science known for the effectiveness of its underlying principles regarding human success. According to Kabbalah, every human being possesses their own vibration, and their life follows a specific rhythm whether they realize it or not. A year has 365 days, which, when divided by 7, yields seven 52-day periods. These are ruled respectively by the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn. These periods are calculated using one's birthday as the starting point.

The first of the 52 days of the Sun is a person's birthday. The following 52 days are, according to Kabbalah, the strongest period of the year (provided, of course, there are no heavy planetary influences in the individual chart at the time). This is the ideal period for any new endeavors and initiatives - offering abundant strength, creativity, luck, and new experiences.

The next 52 days belong to the Moon - a period of minor changes, good for home adjustments, but difficult for making major decisions. The Moon period can be good on certain days - a waxing Moon with positive vibrations - and poor on others - a waning Moon with corresponding negative vibrations in our lives.

The next 52 days are the days of Mars - usually a difficult period full of conflict, irritation, and haste. However, these days also feature manifestations of strong willpower, magnetism, physical vitality, and heightened sexual energy. During this period, the Universe grants us plenty of energy, and we decide whether to improve our lives or destroy things through haste and rashness. It is wise to guard against accidents.

The next 52 days are the days of Mercury - favorable for everything related to writing, learning, communication, intellectual pursuits, and publishing. They are filled with change, and intuition must sharply recognize emerging opportunities. Excellent for travel, making new acquaintances, and deciding to study something new.

The next 52 days are the wonderful days of Jupiter - the planet of material and spiritual abundance - and according to Kabbalah, this is a period when the Lord of Prosperity smiles upon us more easily. A great time for settling matters related to money, justice, legalizations, investments, learning, growth, and expansion. The best time to realize our potential or meet loved ones.

The next 52 days mark the period of Venus - very favorable for people in artistic professions, great for pampering oneself with beautiful luxury items, relaxation, and entertainment. Decisions regarding personal relationships are often made, new friendships are formed, and long journeys are taken. An excellent time for a new relationship, restoring an old one, finding true love, and getting married.

The final 52 days are the days of Saturn - the infamous "Saturn pit" preceding one's birthday. Energy declines, and it becomes necessary to maintain emotional balance throughout the entire period, keeping the state of mind centered. Engage in meditation and yoga, watch what and how much you eat, analyze, think, and study so as not to feel so suppressed and restricted. Avoid making major decisions and strengthen your aura to protect yourself from negative energy and regenerate your resources. Occasionally, a good real estate transaction can be made during this period.

According to the Law of the Seven Creative Planets in Kabbalah, it is best to register a marriage or begin a relationship during the periods of the Sun, Jupiter, and Venus. The ideal scenario is for this to occur during one of these periods while the Moon is waxing. In this case, we give the relationship the maximum chance to survive any potential crises. Needless to say, this applies to both partners; otherwise, the outcome of the marriage may prove different for each of them.

If the wedding takes place during the periods of the Moon or Mercury, a waxing Moon period - from the new moon to the day before the full moon - must be chosen; otherwise, it is unfavorable. A waning Moon during these periods carries the nature of Saturn and Mars.

Registering a marriage during the periods of Saturn and Mars is extremely unfavorable and increases the likelihood of marital crisis; this also applies to beginning a relationship during these times. Kabbalah even recommends divorcing and remarrying during one of the favorable periods if life continually presents marital difficulties.
